Volunteer
OXA is a volunteer-powered community passionate about helping Okanagan gardeners create beautiful, water-wise landscapes. Through education, demonstration gardens, and community events, we inspire people to Garden with Nature.
We are so grateful for the energy, creativity, and care our volunteers bring to everything we do. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or a curious beginner, there’s a place for you here.
Come be part of it– help maintain our gardens, prepare for plant sales, support our events, and outreach. However you get involved, you’ll make a meaningful difference and connect with a great group of people.

OXA VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
GARDENING
Love to garden? Dig with Sig is our popular weekly volunteer drop-in running on Fridays from 9 – 11am. This is a unique opportunity to work side by side with Sigrie Kendrick, OXA’s Executive Director and Master Gardener, learning directly from a xeriscape specialist while helping care for our beautiful demonstration gardens.
Volunteers work together to keep these spaces inspiring, educational, and thriving. The morning may be spent in the demonstration gardens or the greenhouse, helping with weeding, watering, transplanting, seasonal maintenance, plant propagation, and preparing for plant sales.
It’s a relaxed, hands-on way to build your gardening knowledge, discover drought-tolerant plants, and learn practical water-wise gardening techniques in a friendly, supportive environment. Most of all, Dig with Sig is about connection– sharing knowledge, meeting like-minded people, and enjoying time together in the garden.
No experience is needed, and you don’t have to be an OXA member to join us– just bring your gloves and a trowel and come as you are. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or a curious beginner, there’s a place for you with us.
OXA Events, Social Media, Fundraising
We can always use volunteer help at our OXA Events– annual Xeriscape Plant Sales, fundraisers, presentations, and workshops. Also, if you have expertise in social media or fundraising, we would love to hear from you.
We respectfully acknowledge the Syilx Okanagan Nation and their peoples, in whose traditional, ancestral, unceded territory our demonstration gardens are situated.
